“Retrograde”
Torquay has been part of our lives for quite some time. Most recently we visit the “Surf Coast” regularly for days or weekends away, most often to shoot some photographs either with the drone or DSLR. This one we have treated with retro filters giving it a very old, summery, retro feel. It reminds us of early trips back in the 70’s. Below you can find various other shots from the area. [The name and white border will appear as part of the final print, however the website watermark will not appear.] Want to print your own? An instant download of this print is also available as printable wall art via our ETSY page here: Etsy.com/shop/wildwhaleprints

“Emerald”
Down the most beautiful of roads, the Great Ocean Road here in Victoria, you will find the lovely seaside spot of “Anglesea”. One of the beautiful beaches in the area is “Point Roadknight”, this is where we took this top down drone shot of a gorgeous emerald coloured wave. It was a lovely warm winters day and the waves were not big, but the sun on your skin and the natural colours were just beautiful to enjoy. “Crest”
Can’t get enough of wave shots? This is the latest of many drone shots showing the awesome power of the ocean and it’s natural beauty. On the crest of a wave, we took this one down at 13th Beach on the Victorian coast where many a local takes time out to catch the never ending breaks. With a print on a wall, you can easily get bored of the image, but with abstract images and patterns you can always find something new in the print each time you pass it. Available in a variety of sizes. Please leave any feedback below or on our Facebook or Instagram pages. “Lorne”
Have you visited Lorne recently? It is such a wonderful seasonal holiday location down on the Great Ocean Road. Many Victorians have their own beautiful holiday homes at the seaside town, whilst others flock to the many hotels, airbnb’s, rentals and cabins for short term stays. It’s an area that can be enjoyed all year round, but the climax of the visiting crowds usually centres around the Pier to Pub swim. This ocean swim sees thousands flock to the area to partake in or watch an annual swim from this pier to the pub on the shore. Lorne lies approximately two hours from Melbourne and within comfortable distance of the Otways, 12 Apostles and many other great attractions. This artwork was drawn using a drone photo we took earlier this year as the reference point. We spent many an hour drawing the poster and giving it an appropriate retro feel. We hope you like it, please leave any comments or questions below, we love getting feedback on our website, Facebook page of Instagram feed. Available in a variety of sizes to suit your walls. “Swimming For Gold”
Who loves swimming? Ocean swimming or wild swimming has grown in popularity of recent times and once you experience it yourself there’s no going back. Described as a form of meditation by many, it’s a peaceful activity that allows you to switch off and completely remove yourself from mundane day to day activities. There are many groups who meet regularly around the globe to swim in oceans, lakes, rivers, water holes, old quarries and many other bodies of water. Swimmers are of the nicest breed of people. They are relaxed, carefree, loving and jovial, and we put this down to this wondrous hobby of swimming. This drawing captures a solo swimmer heading out at dusk, perhaps training for a big event or just taking a moment of solitude before returning home. It has just been added to our website and is available in many different sizes to suit your walls and is ready to frame at your standard frame sizes. Great for a birthday present or perhaps just grab it for yourself. Let us know your comments or questions below, if we’re not in the water ourselves, we’re here to help! “Pink Sky at Night”
More from the recent beautiful sunset over “Cherry Lake” in Altona. Earlier in the evening we flew our drone and captured a very colourful and bright sky over the lake which you can see here. This shot was taken a little later in the evening with our DSLR back from Millers Road over the creek which runs down to the ocean. By then it was quite dark and a fairly long exposure was required, but the pink sky at night was certainly still the main attraction. Cherry Lake is a wonderful spot to walk or ride around and has become even more popular during lockdown. “The Baths”
We have created an artwork of this gorgeous destination entitled “Brighton Baths” here, but this is another shot from the same day back in December. We also showed a top down shot of some swimmers alongside this location entitled “Just Keep Swimming” here. We love the ocean and getting up in time for sunrise is never a hassle when we have such a location in mind. Looking South-East, this shot shows the sun rising behind the bayside suburb of Brighton with the Brighton Baths on the waterfront as the main focus. Brighton is just 30 minutes out of the city and is also home to the lovely bathing boxes which you can also see here. You can see more from this days shoot on our blog post, a video showing the process from photo shoot to illustration. See the video here. You can see the final drawing from this video here. “Just Keep Swimming”
We love the ocean, we love swimming. Put them both together and ocean or wild swimming is one of those activities which can be so beneficial for your soul. It’s where many go to find themselves, to drown out the day to day problems and just chill out in the salty water. These lucky swimmers were out early one calm morning in December next to the Brighton Baths. It was a glorious morning and for them I’m sure an invigorating start to their day. Just keep swimming. You can see more from this days shoot on our blog post, a video showing the process from photo shoot to illustration. See the video here. You can see the final drawing from this video here and another drawing of the beautiful Brighton Beach Boxes just up the road from the marina, here. “Anglesea Cliffs”
We visit the Great Ocean Road regularly, particularly the end nearest our base in Williamstown. Just 90 minutes from the city is the beautiful seaside town of Anglesea. We have drawn some lovely Boat houses on the river before which you can see here, and also have a print of “Point Roadknight”. This shot points West from the lovely cliffs at “The Point” and looks towards the main cafe strip on the Great Ocean Road. Taken by drone on what was warned to be the last day of Summer last week, we were surprised to find such a quiet secluded beach with no one else around.
