Lorne. An iconic Summer destination for many over the December/January school holidays. And there’s nothing more iconic than the Pier to Pub Ocean swim. The swim draws huge crowds to the seaside town, in fact boasts being the largest ocean water swim in the world. We have swum here many a time, including an unofficial winter version of the swim, although we went from beach to pier and back without wetsuits in Winter! The Summer swim is hosted by the Lorne Swimming and Life Saving Club with much input from many volunteers including Lifeguards. Lorne has much holiday accommodation, restaurants and local shops to keep everyone entertained. It is also a great spot to stay before heading off on adventures down the Great Ocean Road or into the beautiful Otway National Park further down the road.
